I'm Jen — founder of Elegant Strands™, hair extension specialist in Craigieburn, Melbourne and creator of Elegant Strands Professional Haircare.
My love for hair extensions started on a trip to America, where a Jamaican woman gave me my very first set. I loved how they made me feel — not only because my hair looked longer and fuller, but because they gave me confidence. After that, I fell in love with extensions and there was no going back.
I wanted to give other women that same feeling — beautiful hair and the confidence to feel like themselves again.
Today, I'm certified in 8 hair extension methods and specialise in ICE Infusions and Butterfly Weft extensions, alongside weft extensions, tape extensions, keratin bonds, microbeads and nanobeads.

Built, not handed to me
I worked my ass off to get here.
And I'm still working even harder.
I'm a single mum. I wasn't handed a business, an easy life or a shortcut. Everything I have, I've had to work for.
I've gone without. I've had good days and bad days — and some days that were really not good at all. I've cried in the shower so my son wouldn't know I was struggling, then walked back out and tried to keep everything together like I was fine.
I've lived through three strokes, a heart attack, domestic violence and periods of severe depression where I genuinely didn't know how I was going to come out the other side.
There have been moments where giving up would have been easier. Moments where I questioned myself, my business and whether I had anything left in me.
Somehow, every time life knocked me down, I managed to pull my shit together and keep going.
I'm not sharing that for sympathy. I'm sharing it because the polished photos, the salon, the products and the finished brand don't show you everything it took to get here.
Elegant Strands wasn't handed to me. I built it while raising my family, navigating hard chapters and trying to create something better for myself and my children.
So if you ever question whether you're capable of doing something, remember this: if I can do it, so can you.
From the salon chair to home care
The extensions came first.
The haircare grew from them.
Working with extension clients showed me that beautiful hair doesn't stop at the installation. What you use at home matters too. I wanted professional extension-safe haircare created with extensions in mind while also being suitable for natural, colour-treated, bleached and chemically treated hair.
