The Story Behind
Elegant Strands™

Elegant Strands™ started with haircare, but the story behind it is about so much more than hair.

I'm Jen — a hair extension specialist, founder and single mum who had an idea and decided that, no matter how difficult life became, I was going to give it everything I had.

I didn't start with a perfect life, unlimited money or a room full of people cheering me on. I started with an idea, determination and the belief that maybe I could create something better.

THIS IS MORE THAN HAIRCARE

I wasn't handed an easy life.
I built anyway.

And if my story gives even one person the courage to back themselves, then sharing it was worth it.

WHERE THE IDEA BEGAN

I couldn't find what I wanted.
So I decided to create it.

For years, I tried what felt like nearly every haircare product on the market, searching for something I was genuinely happy using on my own hair and recommending to my hair extension clients.

Working as a professional hair extension specialist, I kept seeing the same concerns — dryness, frizz, dullness, breakage and extensions that simply weren't feeling or looking the way they should.

I wanted professional haircare created with hair extensions in mind, but I didn't want to create something that was only useful if you wore extensions.

I wanted a complete range designed for hair extensions, natural hair, colour-treated hair, bleached hair and chemically treated hair.

That idea became Elegant Strands™.

FROM AN IDEA TO A FORMULA

Then I went completely
down the rabbit hole.

I wanted to understand what was actually inside the products we were putting on our hair — why ingredients were being used, what purpose they served and what research showed about ingredients used for cleansing, hydration, conditioning, softness and manageability.

I didn't just research what I wanted to leave out. I researched what I wanted to put in.

Every ingredient needed a reason for being there. I wanted formulas focused on gentle cleansing, hydration, conditioning, softness, slip, smoothness, manageability and shine.

The more I learned, the more determined I became to turn the idea in my head into something real.

BEHIND THE BUSINESS

I'm a single mum, and my life hasn't always been easy.

I've been through hell and back. And if you know, you know. Not everyone is handed a good life, and I definitely wasn't.

I've had struggles just like the rest of you — some of us more than others.

There were days I went without. There were days I didn't eat because feeding my child came first.

I've struggled. I've cried. I've been exhausted. I've questioned myself and I've had moments where I genuinely didn't know how I was going to keep going.

And while I was trying to build something I believed in, I didn't have a crowd standing behind me telling me how amazing my idea was.

I didn't have people constantly saying, “You've got this, keep going.”

I had the opposite.

I had people tell me not to do it. That it wouldn't go anywhere. That nobody would buy it. That I was wasting my time.

Instead of everyone wanting to see me win, at times it felt like some people were standing back waiting for me to lose.

And I'm not going to pretend that didn't get to me.

I nearly gave up.

There were moments when walking away would have been easier. Moments when I almost let other people's opinions become louder than the voice inside me telling me to keep going.

I nearly gave them exactly what they wanted.

But I didn't.

THE MOMENT I HAD TO CHOOSE

Give up because they didn't believe in me?
Or finally believe in myself?

At some point I realised that if I stopped, I wasn't stopping because my idea had failed.

I was stopping because I had allowed other people's doubts to decide what I was capable of.

And I couldn't accept that.

So I kept going.

Not because everything suddenly became easy. Not because everyone suddenly supported me. And definitely not because I suddenly stopped being scared.

I kept going because I finally understood something:

You can be scared and still start.
You can struggle and still succeed.
You can have a hard life and still build something beautiful from it.
THIS PART IS FOR YOU

If you're waiting for a sign,
this is it.

Maybe you have an idea you've been sitting on. Maybe you keep telling yourself you'll do it when you have more money, more time, more confidence or more support.

Maybe somebody has already told you it won't work.

Maybe nobody around you understands why you want it so badly.

Do it anyway.

Don't leave your idea sitting in your head because you're afraid of failing. And don't hand your dream to somebody else only to watch them run with it and spend the rest of your life wondering, “What if I had just backed myself?”

You don't need everybody to believe in your dream before you start.

Sometimes, for a while, you have to be the one person who does.

FROM ONE PERSON WHO HAS STRUGGLED TO ANOTHER

If I can do this,
trust me — so can you.

I'm not sharing the hard parts of my story because I want sympathy.

I'm sharing them because somebody reading this might be in the middle of their own hard chapter right now.

You might feel behind. You might feel like everyone else had a head start. You might be tired, broke, scared or wondering whether you're good enough.

YOU ARE NOT FINISHED YET.

Where you start doesn't have to decide where you finish.

A difficult chapter doesn't mean you have a bad ending.

Take the first step. Then the next one. Learn as you go. Make mistakes. Fix them. Cry if you need to.

Elegant Strands™ isn't defined only by what's left out. Every formula was developed with ingredients selected for a specific purpose — from gentle cleansing and conditioning to hydration, softness, slip, manageability and shine.

The system combines ingredients such as panthenol, glycerin, sodium PCA, squalane and argan oil alongside conditioning ingredients selected to care for the hair throughout the routine.

I was incredibly particular about what went into the formulas, not just what was left out.
